Apparently it'll arrive at 12PM PDT, so not for a few hours...

Interestingly, MS have said that they're going to restore VBA support
to Mac Office. But not for Office 2008 :-(

So - Office 2012?

They also mentioned they'd be trying to shorten the gap between
releases. The fact they *had* to switch compilers to build 2008
presumably cost them a lot of time.

So maybe 2011 :-)

It is on their website now. 180MB.

Installation of the update appears to lock the software until online
registration is complete - something I didn't reckon on.

is that the original registration? Nothing happened here other than it
being updated (unless I didn't notice).

I can't remember whether I registered originally - I don't usually, only
when I have to. As it stands, opening any 2008 app brings up a
registration prompt. If I cancel, it closes the app. So it looks like
I'll have to register with microsoft.

I've switched to iWork with Office 2003 in an XP VM as a safety net. Changed
the default apps for .doc and .xls to Pages and Numbers in work today.

Be interesting to see how transfers go between these apps and my Windows
Office using colleagues.
