Following up a thread a few weeks ago (I think on the 24" model), I'm
looking at various Ultrasharp models and getting confused. On the Dell
site, theres a 20" (2007FP) at £369, and a 22" (2208WFP) at £263. Am I
missing an obvious reason for the smaller monitor being so much pricier?

One of those pricing glitches, I think - Dell are terribly
inconsistent about these things. The 20" Ultrasharp should be around
£220, new from Dell.

I buy my monitors refurb, btw. Far saner prices. eg

Ah, thanks! Much saner. (Same odd disparity in the pricing of those two
models though.)

Oh, right - the 2007FP isn't widescreen, and 4:3 screens are getting
more expensive (or at least not getting cheaper) now that they're
old-skool.

Ok, thanks. That's the sort of thing I wanted to hear!

The reduction in cost of the widescreen ones is coming from the TV
market.

That said, the 2007FP 20" is a very nice monitor and you get more real
estate than on the non-widescreen models.  This is 1600 x 1200 Pixels
compared to the 2208WFP's 1680 x 1050.

We've tended to go for the 2007FP and those of us with them are very
happy.  Education pricing on these is also much keener so you're looking
at £247 compared to £219, give or take VAT and extra discount.

Kind regards,

Dave

Thanks Dave; all food for thought.

What's this - buying from Dell-boy?  :-)

Actually, we have a 2007WFP and are very happy with it.

Following up on the monitors issue, there appears to be a new software
revision in the pipline for the new Dell 2408FPW.

Blimey. I'm glad I got a 2405fpw a couple of years back, no issues at
all.

Interesting - just had a quick look and I can't see the 20" (2007FP) listed,
the 2009WFP is at £227.

(I'm still trying to decide on a 24? - just missed a 2407 on e-bay which
went for £280, which outbid my offer - rats).
