Okay, HP LJ 1320n. 6000 page cartridge, printed 8996 pages so far, and
it's been reporting 1% full since I first checked at 7 thousand and
something pages.
It's still printing fine (except for what I mention below), with an
occasional tendency to start showing drop-outs. So far, I've taken this
cartridge out two or three times for gentle shaking to sort that, but
not for a few weeks.
Right.
What's odd is that I've just printed out two letters.
One is `normal width text'. That's perfect.
The other was typeset with a slightly wider text block than usual[1] and
has a light streak of toner running down the page, more or less in line
with the right hand edge of the text.
And this is repeatable: print 'em out again, whatever order, and that's
how it comes out.
Has anyone got any idea what might be causing this? I'm a bit puzzled.
(For sure I could just slam in a new cartridge - but the old one still
has life left in it, and, well, what the bloody hell's going on, eh?)
Rowland.
[1] Think `narrower margins' if that makes more sense to you.

Don't be so cheap. Even people living on the dole can afford new cartridges
today. What do you do with your bog roll, keep it until it's brown on both
sides?

That is odd. I've always had you pegged as a one letter man.

I'm puzzled why you post off-topic in a Mac group.

Yes, I suppose you think your 1975 Opel has plenty of life in it too.
