All very odd.  Added to my loserhood in spending Saturday night  spring
cleaning my computer. :-/

Looking in Disk Inventory X, in ~/Library/Caches, there is a folder
called Adobe Camera Raw (app I don't use) and which contains 169 files
with names along the lines of 'Cache00000000081.dat', which are Mac
Wavelets WBIN documents.

Nearly a gig's worth - can I delete them?

Anything in a cache you can get rid of. If it needed it, it could make
it again!

In case you use Lightroom that's where they come from.

Ah, thanks!  But are they important?  I've deleted them now!

I think they are just rendered previews of images you've been editing.
Leaving them would speed up display of those images, but they're
certainly not vital. LR will generate them again as needed.
