Anyone using Evernote?

<http://preview.evernote.com/>

I heard about it on MacBreak Weekly, and it looks rather good.

I've never really got on with DevonThink or Skitch (I tend to get
crashes when I try to make webposts). I'm currently trialling Yojimbo,
which I rather like in a kind of unenthusiastic way.

The Evernote syncing model, meaning I can access stuff on a Mac,
Windows box, or my phone seems potentially very useful. As does the
ability to carry your library on a memory stick.

It's in closed beta at the moment, and I'm waiting for a reply to my
registration. Anyone got an invite going?

Signed up and downloaded the client. Just waiting for an invitation. I
like the model very much.

Been using it for a couple of days now - and am impressed.

The major drawback at the moment is lack of pdf support. Apparently
this is because having gone from being Windows-only to having both
Windows and Mac clients they want to keep feature parity between the
two - and text-searchable pdfs are difficult to get right in Windows.
Or something like that.

The other problem isn't so much with Evernote - as with the iPhone.

The idea is that you can use your cameraphone to photograph, say, a
business card and email it to your Evernote library. Their server-end
OCR finds text in the photo, which makes it easily searchable.

Adding stuff to your Evernote library from the iPhone is very fast and
simple. But it really shows up the poor quality of the camera. Trying
to capture text with any kind of sharpness or clarity is really
difficult. The feature works well using the iSight though.

Anyway - I have some invites for the beta now if anyone wants one.

Could I have one of those please? Just remove the obvious from my
reply-to address.

Cheers,

Jason.

Not if I try and send it to a privacy.net address you won't.

The Mac client is.

But you can use the web interface if you want to give it a try.

There may be a Windows Mobile client too.

So the web one is for storing your notes etc actually on the web rather
than in the computer, future-of-the-web stylee.

Ah yes - so there is.

If you have an invite left, please send one over.  ta!

An invite is on the way to your gmail address.

Haven't had time to check it out very well, but seems like it will be
very useful.

Jason.
