Hi Folks,

I have, today, bought my first iPod. Plugged it in to a USB 2 port and
ran the setup then synched it with my iTunes library.

It came up with an obscure east Eurpean language which, not surprisingly
I don't speak, or read for that matter! How to fix the language was a
problem; which was the Settings menu... Having pissed about with it for
a while and managed to shut off the backlight... I decided to download
the manual from Apple.

Eventually I fond in the Troubleshooting section a phrase that said, "If
you inadvertantly set a different language..."

It told you how to do a reset and gave the menu item numbers! I guess
someone on the iPod team got into this difficulty, thank goodness!

The main menu item for Settings is number 6 and the reset is the last
one in the Settings list. Make sure the Reset caption is blue, not grey,
then press the center select button.

It fixed my language problem and also enabled the backlight. Hope it
helps someone sometime.
