Safari and Instituto Cervantes website

The Instituto Cervantes as part of its language learning classes allows
one to access their Virtual Classroom
(http://www.ave2.cvc.cervantes.es/).
They offer clear warnings about the site being developed for Windows
PCs. OK.

During November whilst running OS 10.3 I found that it worked fine with
whatever was the latest version of Firefox at the time, but have not
used it since then.

Another member of my class uses a Mac and tells me that he is struggling
to gain access. Foolishly, I didn't aks him what system he was running.

Yesterday evening, now running 10.5 I found that I could access the
pages and use it using Safari, once I had got past messages saying that
there was no technical support for my browser, although the initial
loading was slow (terribly so - it needed patience and 2 or 3 attempts).

Does anybody fancy trying to look at it with 10.4 and Safari, and or
Firefox so that I can, with some knowledge attempt to help my companero?

I'd need to give you my user id and password which I'm quite happy to do
via email!

Is is slow after you log in? It didn't seem slow loading to the point
where you get asked for User and Password.

After the login there was a lengthy period with a fullscreen page saying
"cargando" which lasted what seemed an interminable time, before
displaying some exercises. I got confused at this stage as I did not
have enough patience to wait, but started messing, and then going
through the login again.

OS 10.4.11, Firefox 1.5.0.12. Loads nice and quickly. I chose the
'English' option, I got a 'no support' warning but went on to the login
screen. Which is where I stopped. Safari 3.0.4 was received more
reluctantly, with a 'system verification' and two (count 'em) 'no
support' signs, but then went to the login stage okay.

It seems to be a tad happier with Firefox, but nothing crucial.

To try further, I'd need your login.

That's exactly what I got with Safari - why the 2?

Thanks to the Peters for helping me!

In case any other Macheads want to learn Spanish at the Instituto
Cervantes, the good news is that, despite the warning that you are about
to use an unsupported browser, their Virtual Classroom does work with
Safari 3 as well as Firefox.

cheers,
