What is it about the Documents and Downloads folders on the dock that
makes them "Stacky"?
And despite the general dislike of the concept it is occasionally useful
and would be more so if I could apply it to other folders.
Get info doesn't reveal anything special. Not to me anyway.

I'm not quite sure I understand - _any_ folder that's dragged into the Dock
will become a Stack. In 10.5.2 (when it eventually arrives) that behaviour
will be selectable rather than enforced.

Ahh I didn't realise that. Thanks, it's early days with Leopard.

It's one of the reasons that 10.5.2 is so eagerly awaited. I can see myself
using Stacks for folders with not much in (six or less items perhaps) but
over that I'd really prefer them to act like normal folders.

Same here. I'm also quite excited about the list view (although I'll be
less excited when I find out it won't work with the dock on the left).
My documents folder is getting into a mess just so I can click the
documents stack then the document rather than "stack > folder > navigate
> double-click".
