Just about to quit Madasafish & sign up with VirginMedia. As VM are cable,
will I still need to request my MAC when I give notice?

VirginMedia do not lock their service to MAC addresses. I think they
stopped doing that a couple of years ago.

Cheers,

Chris

Just wondered if I might need it for (an indeterminate time in) the future,
if I want to go back to phone-line+internet (I assumed it /was/ a phone-line
thing)?

I'm not sure I follow you. Are you talking about what Madasafish want,
or what VM want/might want?

Cheers,

Chris

I think there is some confusion here between MAC address as in the HW
addr, and MAC = Migration Authorisation Code.

Ah - the Migration Authorisation Code. I thought maybe as VM were cable, they
wouldn't need it (based on my assumption it was something to do with the
phone line). But, if so, might I need it in the future post-VM?

Doh. You're right - sorry Mark, ignore what I said.

Cheers,

Nope, the MAC to move ISPs is only relevant if you're moving from a
BT-wholesale-hosted ADSL provider to another one.
