Downloaded with Safari:-
HandBrake-0.8.5b1-MacOS_UB_GUI.dmg
three times tonight from Versiontracker and each time the dmg refuses
to mount, giving me a "corrupt image" warning.
Presumably lots of people download this successfully, so Is this likely
to be a problem with my system?

Ah!
(red face)
HandBrake-0.8.5b1-MacOS_UB_GUI.dmg
appears to be for 10.4 only... there is a CLI version for 10.3.9
However, in my defernce, Versiontracker does say
This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:
Mac OS X 10.3.9
Mac OS X 10.4 PPC
Mac OS X 10.4 Intel
on the same page that it has this version
(HandBrake-0.8.5b1-MacOS_UB_GUI.dmg) for download.
As an aside...
Although I realise that an app for 10.4 may not run on 10.3, I was
surprised that the dmg wouldn't mount. Does a dmg created on 10.4 not
mount on 10.3??

Works fine for me, MB 10.4.10/firefox 2. The download is only 5meg
(5226945bytes) rather than the 5.2 that Versiontracker says it is,
though. If you CRC32 it (eg Verify it with Disk Utility), the CRC32
should be B7B6E3AE.
