OK, I'm coming over to the darkside and I'm having an Intel Mac. Imac. Top
of the range. Only PPC to date in this house...

Trouble is I want it now. I'm on my second Leffe and an old iMac might do.
Apple Store UK is in my favourites, and I've bought things I don't want
before when under the influence....

Please, somebody stop me......

Pros of getting an old iMac:

1. I can have it this week.

2. Tried and trusted.

Cons:

Tell me, pls, pls....

I'm on the refurbished page now.....

Get a Westmalle too, for an even better mood.

There are rumors that there will be a new iMac soon.

You're lucky; only laptops and servers there at the moment.

Good, the old iMacs have gone - thank Christ!

I've seen the rumours, Aug 7th seems fave.

Come on then guys, pissed-up Ebay purchases, I've got an SGI Octane 2 here -
never even turned it on.....

That's a crime.

I loved the idea of those machines, though I worked on them very
little. I also knew a guy who was big into Irix and always praised it.
Consequently I've stared at the ebay prices quite a lot, so far always
just pulling back.

Still, I'm on a kit purge these days. A few Cobalts I've got will be
going in a month or so (ie. when I can get round to properly wiping
them and installing Debian ready for sale). After that my only vintage
kit will be the C64 and a couple of SNES consoles. I'm even thinking of
losing one of the SNES boxes too (one is for NTSC  and one for PAL, but
as things turne out I didn't buy any US games after all).

Cheers,
Ian

I have an Indigo2, and three Octane non-2's so I know my Irix!

Also I've had two O2's, both burned out - cheap rubbish compared to the I2's
and Octanes.

This Oct2 was 130 quid and I bought it - wont sync to my Sun monitor so I
left it! Pathetic!

I have one of the Octane 1's propping the dishwasher door shut - a little
know fact is that Octanes are hewn from solid Uranium....

This evening I bought a blueberry iBook, and a 250Gb USB2 external
drive. I don't have any machines with USB2, so that's going to be one
slow backup drive.

I love the current imacs and generally they drop the price pre new
release and that has not happened. If the new keyboard is true I am
very happy I bought a 20" at the end of June.

:) I moved to mac over a year ago and I still love them, now to move
my 500 PC network over :)
