Here's the question for the day for all the MAC guru's, explain the
process for a MAC OSx 10 machine not being able to use smb via dns
name to access machines in other subnets.

an exaple would be a mac with an ip of 10.10.10.1 is able to see and
connect to other machines with ip's of 10.10.10.x but not machines
that are in 10.10.11.x.

This is based on a windows active directory environment with multiple
subnets, windows DNS and active directory in windows 2003 native mode.

any solutions ( short of putting a mac server in or god help us all a
WINS server ) would be most readily appreciated.

You're using a MASK of 255.255.255.0 and can't see the other C
class subnet? If so, change the third octet to allow addressing
across class C subnets.
