My G3 has been on comcast for 3 weeks now
working fine.
I decided to add 256 of RAm tonite.

After installing the ram (which worked fine)
I can not browse the internet.
Internet Explorer keeps giving me the
"Welcome to Comcast" page,
regardless of what page I might try
or bookmarks use,.

Tried Comcast support and found that
typing in the IP address will bing me to
the web site,...GIFS or jpegs do not seem to appear
on these pages though.

So the problem appears to be a DNS problem.

This is a G3 266 mghrz desktop which I
gave to my mother. No router or other
computers, just a cable modem and computer.

She also has Voice over IP telephone
which works fine.

I originally set up the connection using the
TCP/IP panel set up to DCHP
I added  no software.

And as I said earlier the connection was great
untill tonight when I disconnected everything
and installed the RAM.

I was connecting to the server at Comcast
which was visible in the TCP/IP panel and Tech support at
Comcast could also see.

Again the problem appears to be DNS I typed in
Yahoo's IP address and the page pulled up as did
CNN after typing in the IP address..

Thanks

Kevin

Have you tried deleting the TCP/IP preferences file?   After you trash it and
reboot, you can set up your connection preferences again and see if that
helps?

Changed back to the Original RAM chip and it
is conectting to Comcast fine now.

So it was the 256 chip which I bought pretty
cheap.
Have to call the company.

Thanks

Kevin
