I get a message on my new G5 iMac, running 10.4.3 that it wants a
keychain password.  I have never set up such a password.  I cannot find
any way to change the password.  Anyone have any ideas.  This is my
first Mac since System 7.

In that case, the password will be the same as your login password.

When you open Keychain Access (in the Utilities folder) there is a menu item
where you can change the password, if you want to.

There isn't really a problem. You should go to "Utilities" folder and open
"Keychain Access".
If you can't find the Utilities folder, bring Finder to the front (Smiley
Mac Face in the dock), then select "Go" in the menubar, then "Utilities".

Open Keychain Access, then click "Edit" in the menubar. There are 2 items
there you can use to change the Keychain behavior or password settings.

I have OX 10.3.9.  I changed some account passwords a couple of week
ago (for my kids' accounts), and now the Keychain is driving me nuts.
I have always used the same password for all my access on my computer
but it won't accept the password I enter for the Keychain.  I have n
idea what it could be.  Keychain Firstaid does nothing to help thi
situation

You can definitely delete the Keychain database file and reboot, a new one
will be created with the same password you login using.
The keychain folder is located in the Library file. Open your Userfolder,
then library, then delete the Keychains folder and reboot.

Once a new Keychain is created, you should go in there and customize it to
the level of security you feel comfortable wirh.

You can get information on how to reset your administrator password by
opening Mac Help from the Help menu when in the Finder, then typing
"reset password" into the search window.

Boot from the install CD or DVD and you can reset the login password.
then don't forget it.

Macs are easy, but they can't remember your master password for you
because if they did, it would let others get the password too.

We don't know where you got your computer from, maybe you got it used and
someone else's password is in it. If you got it new then the OS asked you
for a password when you first booted it up, that will be your password until
you change it.
When you log out (select "Log Out" from the Apple menu), you must enter your
password to login again, if you enter your password wrong 3 times a "hint"
will appear. Let's hope you gave yourself a hint you can remember. Mac
security is much tighter than Windows, you will learn fast.

If in fact you have already forgotten your password, you can reset it by
booting from the installer CD that came with your Mac. Another poster
already suggested that.
