I have an older iMac which I still love and cherish but it's now losing
connection frequently.  When I go into control panel and change the tcp/ip
settings to something else, then reset them to DHCP the connection returns.

Any idea to what is happening and is there a fix?  I've tried a different
connection cord which works find on another computer so I guess that can be
ruled out?

Have you noticed any other settings going funky on you, like the clock
etc.?  I'm thinking "PRAM battery"...

I've checked the clock settings and they seem to be ok and blown the PRAM a
few times.   You think a battery?  I wasn't aware of that but the machine is
probably 7-8 years old...

There is a battery on the motherboard whose job it is to keep the PRAM
intact. Normal lifespan for those is 3-5 years. Check with Apple's
support site or a dealer which battery is needed for your iMac and how
to replace it.

Put "jaalborg" for "navn", remove ".invalid".

If the date and time are correct after the computer has been shut down
completely, the battery is okay.  If they're not correct, you need a new
battery.
