Thanks. I gave it a try with no luck. Can't see anywhere to config anything
as it only gives the install option? But iTunes now sees the DVD driver
which is an improvement in the right direction (well, at least somewhat
comforting).
I've tried a couple of dvd player software too and VLC seems to *almost*
work. What I mean is, that it'll see the disk, open it for a movie then
start to play for a few seconds, then freeze...

Here's a silly question: what speed are your USB ports?
If you have an older Mac that only supports USB 1.1, the interface is
too slow for DVD drives. You may be seeng a side effect of that.
If this is the case, and you've got a PowerMac, you can install a USB
2.0 interface in a PCI slot. I got a 4-port Belkin card for $25 at
Radio Shack that works great for me.
Otherwise, you may want to return the drive to the store (if you can)
and buy a FireWire drive. FireWire has enough bandwidth for DVD.

Not a silly question and after reading your post realized what the problem
is. Yes, I've got USB 1 and the burner was USB 2. So I took it back and
exchanged it with no problem (plug for Best Buy here) other than having to
pay a little extra for one with a firewire connection. Everything works fine
now although the Mac DVD software doesn't recognize the drive. So I've got
VLC for viewing/playing and Centromedia Disk Burner to burn with.
Thanks a lot. Nice to have this one sorted out...
