Sending arbitrary TCP packets

I'm trying to decode the protocol for an IP camera. I have ethereal
installed and have seen what goes back and forth.

I'ld like to try replaying some of the simpler messages that are used
from a PC (with ActiveX) to display live video from the camera.

I could just code up a program to send out the packets and listen
for the replies, but I'ld rather not. Are there any programs that
allow you to construct a packet and send it to a specified destination?

Thanks,

Dale

I think "netcat" would help.  I'm not sure if it'd meet all your needs,
but if nothing else it'll simplify setting up the network connection for
a script/file that'd supply your packets.

Netcat source is at <http://netcat.sourceforge.net/>.  It's also
available via Fink, and probably from Darwin Ports.
