I have been trying to set up the wireless security on my home network -
between my Actiontec DSL "modem"/router/wifi and my G4 TiBook using a
Belkin PCcard notebook wireless network card.

My trouble is finding how to configure my Powerbook (running 10.3.3) to
use one of the security features WEP or WAP.  I can see how to set it up
on the router, but I cannot find a way to configure the TiBook to sign
on.  Perhaps I "lost" control panel or something once upon a time.  But
right now I can only use the wireless when there is no security set up
on the router.

I have not been able to locate any help on this.  How do I do this?

You're looking for the application "internet connect".

from the airport menu, pick 'other...'
from the popup menu, pick the appropriate security method
enter in network ssid & passphrase or hex key

note that if you use wep, you may need to use the hex key, or use a 13
character passphrase.  wpa does not have this limitation.

I would strongly urge you to use WPA over WEP as there are way too many
security issues with WEP these days. You need to select WPA Personal
from the Internet Connect utility as described by the previous post.
Also be sure to use at least a 20 character passphrase for WPA Personal
security. This will make your wireless network less attractive to "war
drivers", those who cruise neighborhoods looking for unsecured or weakly
secured routers.
