Hi,

Has anybody managed to get OS X to print via Bluetooth to Belkins
printer adapter? When I tell Bluetooth on my iBook to find Bluetooth
printers it can discover this printer adapter. But when I select it and
click continue an error appears saying no printer drivers were found.

It is possible to print with this adapter? More info on the device can
be found here   -
http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=&Section_Id=20058
3&pcount=&Product_Id=179752

I am aware that Belkin doesn't mention OS X at all when describing this
product. Perhaps somebody has got this working.

Many thanks,
Steve

Steve-

It appears that you have encountered what I consider a flaw in Apple's
approach to enterfacing with external devices.  The installation routine
interrogates the device to determine what it is.  If there is no response,
or if the response is not on Apple's list, you get an error message with
no alternative process to get around the problem.

To start with, do you have an Apple printer driver for that printer or a
similar one you believe to use the same print codes?  If so, you might be
able to hack it to match the identity of the Belkin adapter.  I don't know
how to do that, but it could be as simple as changing the driver with a
text editor.

I've read a lot of comments about using the GIMP printing system to solve
similar problems.  Perhaps there is information available on the web,
maybe at Sourceforge, about how to apply GIMP in your situation.

Fred,
Thanks for the couple of pointers and suggestions.
I'll give GIMP a spin and see if it can resolve the problem.
Many thanks,
Steve

I tried a BlueTake printer adaptor and had exactly the same responses.

After a couple of emails to BlueTake support this is what they said.

> MAC OSX supported Bluetooth HCRP profile for printing files. BT20
> supported Bluetooth serial port profile, so it cannot work with MA
> OSX.

The Belkin may be the same
