Greetings,
I've got a client with a Windows Small Business Sever based LAN.
One of the features is an intranet site delivered via MS Sharepoint.
The sharepoint intranet is in DNS as http://companyweb
Every time I try to get an OS 9 Mac to connect, it automatically
redirects to http://companyweb.com.
Any idea why this would happen?
TCP/IP is getting all its info from DNS on the SBS Server.
Thanks,
Fred

Which browsers? Do they have "Domain guessing" or equivalent turned on?
Its a feature of some browsers to "automatically" append the .com if you
leave it out.

My opinion is neither copyrighted nor trademarked. It is price
competitive. If you like, I'll trade for one of yours.

And you should be able to override this behavior by using
http://companyweb/

What's your reason to relate this to Mac OS?
I suspect what you /mean/ is this happens every time you use a specific
Web browser, that just happens to be running inder Mac OS 9, right? Have
you tried another browser? Or have you tried to configure this browser
to not try to be too smart?
