Internet Connect problem

Have recently upgraded from 10.2.8 to 10.3.8 on a G4 Quicksilver on
dial-up.
On 10.2.8 there was never a problem connecting. But now am getting
messages " A modem error occurred. Please verify your settings and try
again" .
These happen in about one in three attemps to dial-up.
Anybody with any ideas?

I have this problem all the time with my slot-loading iMac and Mac OS X
10.3.x. The only workaround I've found is to use Ross's Modem Scripts
instead of Apple's:

Many thanks. Will give that a try later this W/E  - when I can risk a
comms outage!
