Is it possible to get a 5300 working on Airport !?

I have been trying for ages to get a 5300cs running OS9.1 to connect to
my Airport graphite (802.11b) basestation.

I have beed trying a Lucent Orinoco Silver card that works fine on a
Lombard (OSX with the Ioexperts driver) although I also have a Farallon
Skyline 473 card and a Bufallo Airstation one.

I just cannot get the thing to recognise the card(s) with any of the
software I
have loaded.

Orinoco 6.0, 6.3 & 7.1 will all install but I have to eject the card as
it is not detected by the drivers and I can get no further - it isnt
available to select on
TCP/IP. Similar behaviour with the Ioexperts driver.

I cant even install the Skyline and Bufallo drivers - as soon as I try
and install it stops saying "Install the Skyline disk"  etc - meaning a
floppy.  if I copy the software onto a floppy - it isnt fooled telling
me this is not the original go away and find it !!

So...

Does anyone have a sure fire way of getting this machine onto an Airport
Network with one of these 3 cards.

Would it be easier with 8.6 installed ?

Thanks

JohnB-

I've used the Lucent Orinoco Silver card in my Wallstreet PB.  Under OS 9, it
is recognized as an Airport Card and works without any additional drivers.  I
would expect it would work the same in yours if you use at least the earliest
OS that came with Airport software.

Does your 5300 have two PCMCIA slots?  If so, try the other slot.

I have found http://www.macwireless.com a great source for wireless
connectivity with older Mac hardware and older Mac software versions.
You should give it a try.

The only problem with the macwireless solutions is that they are way
more expensive than what the OP wants to do.
