I am setting up a small business; it will have a total of 4 people. As
it is an international film sales agency, the majority of the work
done will be sharing files, tons of e-mail, etc. Nothing too
horrendously out of the ordinary for a moden business.
I want to make the switch to a total Mac operation. Three of the four
use PC's (ugh) and I want to switch them over from the Dark Side.
Totally. (I just realized I have an Outlook transfer question,
sorry... I'll ask that later.)
I don't believe I need an actual server- I want to use a regular Mac
and install the Server hardware on it. Any suggestions what machine
could handle all this. Of course, I could buy a new G5, but I would
like to save £££$$$ (we are in London) if I can.
Are there any "oldies-but-goodies" out there that would be able to
handle all of this?
The Outlook problem- they are fine about moving over to Mac, but they
are staunch Outlook user- all of their 1000's of contacts and emails
will need to be brought over and integrated to Mail, Address book,
etc. for this to work.
Can this be done by a regular human? I am not an IT guy, just a
long-time Mac user.
I would appreciate any advice.

Really, any Mac that's capable of running Mac OS X should be sufficient.
Were I in this situation, I wouldn't hesitate to use my 7-year-old beige
G3/266. Well, I might hesitate, but only because installing Mac OS X on
that Mac can be a pain, but the Mac would be plenty fast enough for the
needs you describe.
