The Airport Admin Utility will give you the equivalent hex password.

I had looked there, but managed to avoid finding it... Funny how it
never occurred to me to look in the menus or at the toolbar. :-/

In Airport Admin Utility, go to menu 'Base Station', then to menu item
'Equivalent Network Password...'
