Airport "Problem Entering Network"

I have a 17" 1.5Mhz Powerbook and an older (white) airport base
station that wasn't used since I got it new. I tried to use it and the
message on my PB was that "there was a problem entering network
clow" (Clow was the name of the network I originally populated it with).
I checked my password in my keychain file, and it seemed to be correct.
So I used the paperclip method to reset the station. Still a prompt for
a password, and "problem joining network clow". Then a hard reset.
No luck. Tried creating a new network. No luck.

I'd like to simply erase what's in the basestation and on the PB and
start from scratch. Or anything, for that matter.

Any suggestions? how can I uninstall all the AP software on the PB
and base station in order to start fresh? The base station does
respond to the had reset by blinking the middle LED about once
a second. But now, of course, "No network found"

Ideas?

There is an article in the Apple KB on resetting and, if that fails,
reinstalling the graphite base station software:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58613

There is also info on the dual ethernet base station:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106602

Are either of these helpful?

Yep - you've done it again, Cath. The datarate seems to be
a lot slower than I remember, but I'll work on that a bit.
Thanks!
(And thanks, Martin, too.)

Try turning WEP or WPA off on the base station and laptop.  Make sure
you are making contact first then try turning encryption back on.
