Here's the problem.....
I have a number of bookmarks in the bookmarks bar, most of which are further
subdivided into folders within which are the "pointers" to websites. It is
easy to arrange those pointers by dragging and dropping, but the same is not
true with attempts to arrange the folders. It seems that more often than not
an attempt to reposition a folder will end up with that folder being inside
another folder instead of being beside that folder. Other than dragging and
dropping is there a way to arrange bookmarks in Safari?

Whne you're moving a folder above or below another, make sure to pull
to the left, so it doesn't go into the preceding folder.
There are also bookmark divider lines you can download from various
sites. Try <http://sep.hicksdesign.co.uk/>
