Whatever your opinion on lawyers, I would at least expect them to spell
"principal" correctly...

True, however, not the quote
An Apple Computer rep declined to comment on the pending litigation and
pointed to an earlier statement that said the two companies have
   "differeing interpretations" of the agreement.

I'm not sure it's the people being quoted who can't spell. I expect
accuracy from Forbes, but it seems that they're skimping on Web
copyediting.

I never understood the problem.  "Apple Computer" is clearly not the
same company as "Apple Music".  I live right down the street from "Apple
Auto Repair" and they're not being sued by the Beetles.

They're not even in a remotely similar business. This actually started
way back when Apple Computer was founded, but they worked it out with an
agreement that Apple Computer would never actually encroach on Apple
Records by offering music-related products.

Several times, Apple Computer has, in fact, released music-related
products. The IIgs and QuickTime are probably the two highest profile
occasions. Now Apple Computer is directly involved in the sale and
distribution of music. It's even at the point where Apple Computer owns
the applemusic.com domain.

Regardless of how active Apple Records appears to have been as a
business entity, they _must_ pursue action against activity that
infringes on or dilutes their trademarks if they wish to retain
ownership.

The iBook saga continues... last updated Fri 17/9/04 (day 53)
Apple provided the couriers they use with my street name, but no house
number. Courier phoned for our number, but then messed up subsequent
delivery; won't get box to return iBook until at least Monday 20/9/04.

You've got a problem with someone who's afraid of lawsuits from

I dunno - Herbie made almost as many films as the Fab Four. And they
were funnier.

Ah yes, you're confusing The Beetles with a Beetle though. And as a
Beetle Herbies films were even worse than the other lot.....

For a crossposted typo, I'd have to agree. Unless it was actually a well
disguised joke referencing cars and a band. In that case, all the replys
do not count. Unless nobody realized that it was a well disguised joke
referencing cars and a band. In that case...

Don't destroy the mystique. I thought it was intentional.

You obviously aren't from uk.comp.sys.mac - and I presumed it was
intentional (it should have been, it was quite good).

I guess that explains why the Rutles never sued.
