Still trying to get files off my old 9500 into my G5 with no success. The G5
manual says click on Go > Connect To Server, and then click on Local Network. I
don't have that showing anywhere. How do I get "Local Network" to show up in
that window? Thanks ;-).

Have you enabled AppleTalk on your G5?

-OR- is your PowerMac 9500 running AppleShare and enabling TCP/IP
service?  If yes, then have you tried telling your G5 to connect to the
IP address of the PowerMac 9500.

Mac OS 9 used AppleTalk to advertise its file server.  Even if you were
able to use TCP/IP for the file transfers, the advertising was still via
AppleTalk, so either you have to explicitly tell the G5 the IP address
of the PowerMac 9500 AppleShare server, or you need to have AppleTalk
enabled on the G5 so that it will see the advertisements from the 9500.

If your version of Mac OS on the PowerMac 9500 is older and does not
have the ability to use TCP/IP for file sharing, then you _MUST_ use
AppleTalk to do the transfers and then again, you must tell the G5 to
enable AppleTalk.

You enable AppleTalk in the G5's Mac OS X Network System Preferences for
the network connection you are using (ethernet or Airport).

Also if you are using Airport, be aware that not all 3rd party WiFi
routers will route AppleTalk information, so if the G5 is on WiFi, and
the 9500 is on ethernet, it is possible that the Appletalk
advertisements are not being routed from ethernet to WiFi.  But if your
9500 can use TCP/IP for file sharing, then you can still enter the IP
address of the 9500 to make a connection on the G5.

Clear as mud?  :-)

Good luck.
