I recently set up a wireless network with my Powerbook G4, Power PC
7500, and Powerbook Firewire Pismo. I had never purchased an Airport
card for the Pismo so I've been connected via ethernet cable to the
Linksys wireless router. The G4 Powerbook is connected wirelessly via
Airport Extreme.
Everything works so good that I now want to make my Pismo wireless, also.
Now I find that the original Airport Card is not made anymore. Other
than going on E-bay and paying about $125 and up (they were originally
$99.00, I believe) I'm wondering if there is another solution for the
Pismo to connect wirelessly. Does another company make a card that will
fit in the Pismo? Is there a card that goes in the PC card slot that
would work?
Your help would be appreciated.
cheers

Check brick and mortar Apple dealers; some of them might have some cards
left in stock.

Macsense makes both 802.11b and 802.11g cards that will fit in the PC
card slot and will work with Jaguar or later. A quick Froogle search
shows that these cards run around $70.
Try checking retailer web sites for cards from other manufacturers that
will work with Mac OS X.

I actuall purchased a card made by MacSense. Its the AeroCard and it
works with OS 9.2. I loaded the drivers and it worked the first time.

There are a few PC cards that will work with 10.2.6 and later. D-Link,
Sonnet, and Belkin come immediately to mind.
I just bought a Belkin 802.11g PC card for ~ $40 at Staples (not
including the rebate) for my G3 PB. Seamless.
