In several of my larger newsgroups messages from 1 1/2 years ago,
when clicked, give a message "...message may be expired." And "click
here to remove all expired articles."  The latter removes nothing!
How do I remove expired or unwanted messages?

Well, it SHOULD work, but that may be one of the 'defects' within the 9x
version of Mozilla, that never got fixed when Apple dropped 9x
development. I simply cant remember if thats one of the 9x problems or not.

If you are reading online, it doesnt matter anyway, because the message
is not stored on your computer, only the header is.

If you cant upgrade to OS X and newer versions. then the following will
suffice.
With Mozilla off (not running)
Go into your profile folder and find the News folder. Then for the
specific news account delete the .msf file for the newsgroup in
question. When you restart Mozilla and go back to the newsgroup, all the
headers will be downloaded (subject to the limitation you set in number)
and any expired message headers will be gone.
