I am using the latest version of Thunderbird (1.5) under MacOSX 10.4.5.
When I go to
Preferences:Privacy:Passwords
and click on:
View Saved Passwords
nothing appears.
Can anyone else reproduce this bug?
Now, what I need to do is clear a saved password for an e-mail account.
Is there another way to accomplish this without going through the GUI?

I don't use Thunderbird, so YMMV, but when you go to the password manager,
doesn't it list the sites for which it has saved user names and passwords?
Can you just remove the entry for the site in question?
Then, when you access the site, it will prompt for user name and
password, and when submitting that, you should be asked again if
you want to save them.
At least, this is how it works in Mozilla (1.7.12).

By the way, I meant this as a work around, not a solution or excuse ;-)

Well, the problem apparently was that the sheet asking for the master
password was not appearing...after quitting and restarting Thunderbird
seemed to fix it.

So, the next problem was that I had forgotten the Master Password. So, I
went hunting and found that the only way around this would involve
losing all my saved passwords...no big deal.
If anyone else is interested, this involved going to my profile folder
and deleting the key3.db and <number>.s files. I then had to go to each
account and separating select 'Read Messages' to get it to ask for a
password again and then to check for new messages when I select
File:Get New Messages for:Get All New Messages
Everything seems to be in the proper state again.

I don't think that was necessary - although you probably don't want to
hear that now ;-) ... see my other response on this thread.

you can't get to the password info unless you have the master
password. Therefore, your response would have been useless

Yes, I missed the fact that it was the master password.
Sorry.
