Mac Forum / Applications / Firefox / Mozilla / July 2004need netscape/mozilla mailer for MacOS 9.x
My wife's Powerbook runs Mac OS 9.2. She's fed up with Eudora, so I figure it's time to install Thunderbird or Netscape for mail, since that's what I like. OK, so OS 9.x is too old for Mozilla to write a version of Thunderbird for it. The latest version of the Netscape software is 7.0. It's rife with bugs! The browser does nothing but freeze up. I have to force quit many times. Is there an update or a tip? I'm willing to try another mailer. It has to speak both POP and IMAP. Thanks. My email is easy to figure out by doing the obvious thing. I have been using netscape 7.03 on os 9.1 for a while now and have only had three or four crashes. Have you made sure you have enough memory allocated to it. I noticed that since netscape went to the everything in one package programming that it is a memory hog. Along with that make sure you have a large cache file. I am using 50 mb for the cache. |
