Hi Group, Does anyone know the best player for playing AVI movies on
quicktime? Or freestanding player? I am using OSX

If you can't get Quicktime to play the movie (make sure you are upgraded to
the latest version) then I would try the Divx for Mac codec. This should work
as a plugin for Quicktime.

Also you might try the "Flip4Mac" Windows Media Player plug-in for
QuickTime, since MicroSloth no longer supports their own player for OS X.

VideoLanController (VLC) . Best hands-down for just about everything
except WMV files.

I didn't know they made a Mac version. If so, I have been quite happy with
their PC software.

Yes, the mac (OSX only I believe) VLC has been out for quite a while.

Nope, I just don't view oddball video files enough to need more than
Quicktime with a divx codec.
