Had a strange thing happen. While within a folder of text files, I selected
a number of them to drag to another folder at the same time. The blank
'Spotlight' search icon in the upper right corner moved and then dropped
out of sight. Would a reboot bring it back? Suggestions. What caused it?

Regards.........

I have no idea what caused it. But I would definitely try a reboot.
