MacJordomo on OS9

Anyone running MacJordomo listware on OS 9?  Any quirks to be
considered.  I may have to bring my lists in house because my service
provider is no longer offering lists to customers and is phasing out
those of us that have them.

I've already been through Yahoo and Google.  If I cannot get a service
provider that offers lists as a part oftheir mail module I will simply
use this to bring them truly 'in house'.

I used to use it, but then I got my hands on a FreeBSD box and moved my
lists to ezmlm/qmail.

Macjordomo is a good program.  The author provides excellent support.  I
used it for several years, starting in its early  days when it was a
little buggy.  Michele was very prompt in responding to bug reports and
fixing them.  In later  years, bugs became much less frequent.

It's been a few  years since I quit using it, but I assume it's as good
as ever.  I just looked at the website, and it looks like Michele is
continuing to develop/enhance it.

Thanks.  I have heard from her just today.

What I think may be happening is that the OS 8-9 version may not be
linked under that title at the web site.  It may be the "classic"
version.  It has an "X" in the version number suggesting that.  The OS
X version is a DMG file.

She noted that the "classic" and OS8-9 versions are indeed different.

My problem is that on first launch I cannot get the prefs screen to
open.  It errors out.

I've asked for a clean copy of the OS 8-9 version.

She noted that she no longer has an OS8-9 machine handy so further
testing on that platform is not possible for her.

My concern is whether I have the right version for 8-9.

Try it; if it works, you have the right version. <g>

Whoops.

My bad.

*HE* sent me a freshly compiled version for OS 9.

That is my project for later this week because I plan on resurecting
my spare Mac that was retired some months ago.  Gotta move a lot of
stuff, get an ethernet cable for the router, check the battery, etc.

Not on OS 9, but on System 7.x .. 8.6. Never had any problems with
it; I ran a couple of lists for about 2.5 years. Super easy to set up
and maintain.

I used it, both the OS X version and the previous OS 9 version.
Suprising enough the OS 9 version seemed to run a bit better. Recently I
have had problems with its stability and OS X. Nothing too major but
still annoying. It can handle high volume loads OK unless it becomes way
too much for it (as if someone sends something they shouldn't send
through it). Running it on OS 9, it was great although in OS X, it could
use some improvements.

I am still going to keep it going and update it when I can, although I
am looking for an alternative that I can easily fit into the current
network situation.
