is 0s X like Unix and or linux?
I have to write a proposal to an insurance type guy saying that it is
kinda. I'm not a mac person yet but depending on the replies I might
be soon.

OS X has a full BSD (Berkely Standard Distribution) Unix layer on top of
a Mach microkernel.  All the standard Unix features and software are
available at the command line.  It has a native X11 client.  Most Unix /
Linux software can run using standard libraries after a recompile.
