clean installing Panther on my 1GHz G4 Powerbook, after copying the
whole of the 60GB internal to the external 250GB

installation went ok, no problems etc

after the install finished, the firewire drive cannot be mounted, and
far worse than that the partition table is corrupted, and the disk label
is just not there

Apple support have no ideas, and have esculated it up the food chain

It seems that if one of these LaCie 250GB D2 Firewire drives is plugged
in during the installation, it gets trashed

I am aware of one other case of this mess

anyone else seen/heard about this one?

haven't heard anything, but when I am doing something like
re-installing an OS, I unplug or at switch off every peripheral....
apple can't cover every combo for idiosyncratic problems.... I prefer a
bare machine
