trying to log on, the modem makes all the normal sounds, but either
doesn't connect or disconnects straight away (i hear the modem
disconnect)and i get the error "Remote side not responding". called
optusnet support and they said to trash the modem and tcp/ip prefs
then re enter it all again. Did that and no success. Ran Nortons and
only found minor errors. i'm using mac os 8.6

what does remote side not respondig mean?...any help????
Desperate to fix this ASAP.

ps. dont reply to my email cos it doesn't exist

OK, what modem are you using, and what modem script do you have selected?

While you're at it, what mac are you using, internal modem, geoport modem? For example, geoport
modems weren't supported from OS 8.5 on, no scripts in the system, you can overcome it by installing
Apple Telecom software.

Check what modem you've selected, near enough may not be good enough.

Same here, but then I'm using an older internal geoport modem.
