So Leopard is just another mog?

Hi y'all

The message I got from Dale's thread is that Leopard isn't exactly
exciting - a bit like Vista wasn't, perhaps (for those creatures we do
not speak of).

Does anyone want to dispute this, and encourage me to take the trouble
to upgrade from 10.4.10? - which in my experience is the most stable OS
for a long time.

An open invitation for comment.

I'd still update (and did, of course :-). Despite all the silly
interface stuff I still like

the better search (spotlight doesn't seem to hang 1/2 way through
typing a search term)
better networking (doesn't stall for a full minute when a mounted
volume disappears).
better DVD player (much, much better!)
spaces (although it doesn't work when you are using keynote :-(

and of course all the good programmers support underneath.

Thanks for the comments Dale. I'd certainly appreciate a brighter
Spotlight, though what I'd really like is some preference say on what
it displays. Having to click twice to get a filepath really ... hmmmm.

And does it support bad programmers?  Anyway, I can always go back a
cat if the spots annoy me.

Ah, spotlight doesn't hold a candle to your joke prowess. You are a
beacon of mirthy delights.

No, I just meant that each copy of Leopard comes with an Apple themed
developer's jockstrap - for that much needed support underneath.

And there I was, just about to try ... when an inspired question about
Classic ocurred to me. Splat. It looks like Tiger will be the summit of
my Feline Evolution, as I can't do without my OED2. Apple are obsessed
with peeling away the past, and I cannot face a future without my
cherished dictionary. End of story.

So I shall have to pass on the benefits of that jockstrap, and -
frankly - the emphasis of my development has been elsewhere.

Good hunting with the Leopard, Dale

Can you take a screen snapshot while it's playing?

I find it annoying to have to open a DVD in VLC Player or one of several
other programs if I want to take a snap of the screen. Surely they've
twigged now to the fact that there's not much point blocking screenshots
- just creating a nuisance and the likelihood that people will use
something else to view their movies.

After I took the tour of new features in Leopard I came to the conclusion
that Leopard is the Vista of Macs and thus not worth bothering with.
