Hi,

I am trying to make some space on my Mac.

I have deleted some programs (backed them up to my External drive)

I am currently ripping my old CD's on my main HD, but these naturally take
up  space.

I have a 160GB HD with only 22.6GB  left

I have thought of moving my Itunes folder to my External HD, which is nearly
5GB, but I don't think you can do that, the OS wont let you , will it?

The Itunes folder with it music has to reside on the Main HD doesn't it?

If I backed up my Itunes  folder to my other drive, then deleted it, will
the OS create a new fresh empty  folder?

Also what are these other folders in Itunes, one is called

"previous Itunes" (a folder)

One called "Itunes music" (a icon with data on it)

The other called "Itunes  music Library.xml"

Can any of these be deleted?

Are they really necessary?

Thanks for any help

You only need to move the folder than contains the music files. You
leave the files at the top level of the iTunes folder where they are.

Follow the instructions provided here:
