Hello to all,
Just bought a new DVD burner, La Cie External firewire ( for the G4
powerbook).
Now my G4 is a -R.
The new burner will burn +R and -R, so as a general rule which way
should I head
-R or + R
IE What are the trends

I use both. Haven't seen much difference in them to be honest. It's just that some
brands' +R media is better than their -R media because of different manufacturers.
The best media is Taiyo Yuden, followed by Verbatim, then TDK, Ritek
Many brands are made in Taiwan by 2 companies, Ritek and CMC Magnetics.
TDK used to be made in japan by Taiyo Yuden, but then TDK Australia decided to
go downmarket and remarket CMC Magnetics media as their own.
Ricoh is made by CMC also.
Then there are bottom-grade discs like Benq, Princo, Laser, and any generic
brand you see at JB Hifi and other outlets.

I guess if you want your PB to read your DVDs, stick with DVD-R

DVD+R actually has more error correction bits, but whether than makes
much of a differnce in practise I don't know.
