Burning home movies on a G3 - can it be done?

G'day all - i'll try and be quick ;)

iMac DV SE G3 450 Mhz, 80 Gig HD, Pioneer 108 burner in external
firewire enclosure (used patchburn to get it recognised. works like a
charm).

AM trying to create 'social stories' DVD for developentally delayed son
(he's a visual learner) ...

iMovie edits movies from DV Camera (with a minimum of fuss), but iDVD 3,
4 & 5 all crash - assume they all need a G4.

Dragged & dropped completed iMovie project on Toast 6 - took 2 days to
render, and was a bit blocky, plus had a few playback issues on a recent
Sony DVD player.

Questions:

What are my alternatives? Will iMovie 2 work on a G3? (And if so, where
can I get a copy? Searched eBay, and even a few places one shouldn't
look ...)

Are there other tools that will do the jobbie?

Your constructive advice would be greatfully appreciated.

YOu didn't mention your RAM capacity. All version of iDVD runs on that
model (I have an iMac DV 400MHz at home). For performance reasons, I'd
stay with v4 or earlier. And make sure you have enough RAM to go.
Should for 512Mb.

Also, later OS versions perform better eg. 10.2.8, 10.3.9 or even 10.4
in a day or two.
