Hotmail attachments wont open....help

Hi,

I have a hotmail account and have been getting video files from friends
(who have PC's, and not Macs) and I cant seem to open them.

One was a .WMV file and it gets scanned by the antivirus from Hotmail, then
there is area in he top left saying "download file'. So I click on it, after
that, nothing.

I think I am missing out here big time , so how can open these files?

I have tried dragging the link on the desk top, thinking it will just be the
.WMV file, BUT NO, it is some sort of "webblog" ?????

Please any help as I am missing out on jokes etc

Yes they will. You need Windows Media Player. Try:

When you click on "download file" in hotmail it should download to your
browser's downloads folder. If you have set your browser's preferences
to open files after download (or post-process files or whatever your
browser's term for this is), then the file should open automatically
with Windows Media Player and start playing. If not, you will have to
open the file manually from your downloads folder.
