Me...but the large # of photos in my database might be the culprit. Even
with under 1000 photos it is still slow. I'm currently trying a few other
apps to replace it.

There was some information posted today on MacOSX Hints which talks
about some possible speedups for iPhoto by reducing the thumbnail size:

That article also referred to another performance hint by removing the
shadow effect in the display:

Perhaps they might help.

I prefer Canon's Image Browser. It's free with any Canon camera, etc.
At least it catalogues AVI's.

Not learly as pretty or as Mac-like as iPhoto though.

Doesn't iPhoto 5 accept movie clips?
Cheers, Robert.

Might give it a shot...does it move the files into its own database? Or
just browse your existing folders of images? I want something with its own
database if possible.
I started a new iPhoto library last night, turned off shadows in prefs, and
reduced the thumbnail size to a much smaller setting, and now it runs rather
well, so I'll start re-importing my photos and see how it goes.
