Is it possible to place an icon (jpg, gif, etc.) on the Document Folder which I
have located in the dock? If this is possible, how could it be done??

Sure, just create an image in graphic converter, photoshop, appleworks
etc and copy it to the clipboard.

Then select the original folder in Finder, Get Info (Command-I).

In the window that appears select the folder icon in the upper left
corner, paste the image.

Close the info window.

Then drag the new folder icon to the dock and remove the old one.

Thank you Peter for the information, but ...
when I paste the icon on the Document Folder in the Get Info pane
the Folder shape of the Document
Folder
changes to a document shape even throught it says document when the mouse cursor
touches it. It
would be nice if the icon could be pasted on the folder and the folder still
retain its identifiable characteristic shape.

Thanks,

Depends on what shape the graphic you are pasting in the get info pane
is. You can always copy the document folder image to the clipboard
first, then open a new document in photoshop. It will open with the same
dimensions as the graphic. Then you can paste into the new photoshop
document and manipulate the folder image. Then copy and follow my
instructions above.

If I understand you correctly you'll need a little something called
'Folder Icon X' which will let you paste an icon onto a folder. Get it
at Tucows or any similar download site.
