I am trying to transfer some files using firewire. System does not respond
to holding down 'T Key' at restart. Have also always had problems booting
from CD using C key. Anyone hazard a guess what I am doing wrong and more
importantly how I can fix it?

I don't think you can boot up with the firewire device in B&W G3, You'll
have to put the CD ROM in the internal drive, if in that case if it fails,
press command shift option and delete at the same time to load the CD ROM
before the "Happy Macintosh" comes up.

What keyboard are you using?  Is your firmware up to date?  Try resetting
the logic board with the button on the logic board (unplug first).  Also try
resetting the PRAM or NVRAM (hold apple-option-p-r and apple-option-n-v
respectively) at startup.
If you can still boot up from the hard drive, plug in an external firewire
device and see if Apple System Profiler detects any firewire devices are
connected, as your firewire ports could be shot.

Thanks for the advice.
1.  I tried both an standard and extended keyboard.
2. TO the best of my knowledge v1.1f is the current version of firmware

3. Couldn't find a button on the logic board
4. Zapped the PRAM and NVRAM
5. Will try an external firewire device when I get a chance
