The new iMac (due September) should outstrip the G3 350 by a factor of
8, the current eMac will easily be 4 times faster, if not quite 5
times, and both will be considerably cheaper and pretty much just as
effective as the G5 1.8GHz tower (which I agree would fair scream
along compared to your venerable G3)
I also suspect that if you have any internal 3rd party PCI gear in the
G3, they'll probably be well superceded and probably better replaced
with something USB or Firewire. I tell you, I'm sooo over towers,
their only advantage is the brute force put in them, much of which
doesn't really add up to value for money.

To each his own, but I like to have as much grunt as I can, just because I am
impatient :)
That said, I'm still content with my dual 800 G4 that I bought in Oct 2001, although
sometimes, when I'm listening to mp3s, downloading and burning discs at the same time,
that I had more than 30% CPU left :)
