Hello All,
I have a G4 Powerbook 15" with a superdrive and OS X.2.6.
I am confused about what recordable DVD media I can use.
There is quite a range of different prices for recordable
DVDs but I'm not sure how to tell which is compatible with the superdrive.
For example, at pcbudget.com.au:
Pioneer DVD-R 5 pack $36.30 (=$7.26 each)
Shintaro DVD-R single $3.30, less than half the cost.
Can I use either of these in the superdrive?
A 5-pack from Apple costs $29.
Also, Toast says it is compatible with DVD+R - does this mean I can use
DVD+R with the superdrive (they seem to be more common)?
And another thing - the apple web site only mentions DVD-R but the OS help
says that I can use DVD-RW as well (although they will not work with DVD
players).
Is there a document around that explains all this?!
Cheers,
Duncan.

I've had great success with the Shintaro discs with my SuperDrive-equipped
dual 800 G4.

AFAIK, the SuperDrives only support DVD-R, not DVD+R.

Aust. Macworld(latest edition) has an article about DVD formats & its
differences. I find it quite informative..
Jon..

No. Either OS X or the Superdrive (I forget which) doesn't support CD+R &
CD+RW, only CD-R & CD-RW.
