Can someone tell me how I can make my g4 with a airport card in it ,the base
station, for internet connection from my ibook
I have heard it can be done but don't know how
And you don't need a proper apple base station.

I think in OS 9 there was a "software basestation" application. Not sure of
such a thing in OS X. However, in OS X, the following will achieve the same
thing, though perhaps a little less permanently (ie you'll have to do this
each time you come back from sleep mode, I think)...

* On the G4, go to your airport network menu in the menu-bar. Choose "Create
Network..." and click OK.

* again on the G4, go to your System Preferences panel, choose "Sharing",
click on the internet tab, and check that the settings are set to "Share
your connection from built-in ethernet (or modem depending where your 'net
is coming from) to airport.

* if your iBook is set to automatic location (see location under the apple
menu), it should get an IP from your G4 via DHCP and you should be on the
net.

Hope that helps.
