I think in OS 9 there was a "software basestation" application. Not sure of
such a thing in OS X. However, in OS X, the following will achieve the same
thing, though perhaps a little less permanently (ie you'll have to do this
each time you come back from sleep mode, I think)...
* On the G4, go to your airport network menu in the menu-bar. Choose "Create
Network..." and click OK.
* again on the G4, go to your System Preferences panel, choose "Sharing",
click on the internet tab, and check that the settings are set to "Share
your connection from built-in ethernet (or modem depending where your 'net
is coming from) to airport.
* if your iBook is set to automatic location (see location under the apple
menu), it should get an IP from your G4 via DHCP and you should be on the
net.
