Adding Memory to MT-NW in X.4

Once in a while, when I'm manually extracting binaries (because parts
are missing and I want the par files to fix them), I'll get a message
that NW is short of memory and I should add more.

But from what Robin Williams tells me in her book, the Mac does this
better than I cold ever hope to do, and I do not have the option to
change the way the IBM Brain allocates memory.

Is this true?  What is the recommended  action upon receiving this
message.  I've been shutting down MT-NW and then re-booting the Mac.
Anything less intrusive available to me?

Thanx.

How much RAM in the Mac, and how much free disk space?

1 GB RAM; about 82 GB on that hard drive.

Is that the startup drive? If not, how much free on the startup disk?

Yes, that is the startup drive.

Then my guess is the message you're getting is bogus and something else
is happening. If you create a new user account, does the problem follow
or not?

Are you running MT-Newswatcher 3.4, or an older version that runs
under Classic?

An older version running under Classic would still be subject to
the Mac OS 9 application memory allocation rules.

MT-Newswatcher 3.4 should not care, as it can just keep asking the
operating system for more virtual memory.

All of this is just speculation on my part, which is why I'm
asking what version of MT-Newswatcher you are running.

No, it is 3.4 alright.  I do know that if I shut down MT- NW it seems to
be OK for a while, but something seems to fill up and when I use the
"Extract Binaries Manually" feature I have to re-start relatively
frequently.

I guess I just have to live with it.  Not much of a problem, considering
how much I like MT-NW,; I was just hoping for a cheap fix.

Thanks for the help.
